VICTIM WITNESS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Victim Witness Assistance Program (VWAP) works to ensure that victims of crime who have suffered physical, financial, or emotional trauma are informed of their rights and receive assistance. VWAP provides a variety of services to victims and witnesses, including education on criminal justice processes, courtroom orientation, notice of significant case events, and financial and logistical assistance when attending court proceedings.

Witnesses serve a critical role in the resolution of criminal cases. The goal of VWAP is to ensure that witnesses are treated with fairness, dignity, and respect and are provided the support needed to help navigate through complex legal procedures and court processes until cases are resolved.
